There can be many a times when you cannot afford to spend those valuable $$$ to prove your concept or express yourself or give you the start you are looking for Wink Then where do you go?? Now that open source has become such a big thing, that I don't think I need to explicitly answer this question!! But then, identifying what application to use and where can get a bit daunting (As daunting as atleast 3 rounds of googling Tongue)!! Anyways, here I would like to recommend 5 open source application which can get you rolling with your concept....

Now let me tell you what we did last summer :-)

I got a secret to share Tongue When everyone around the globe was impatiently waiting for OpenSolaris 2008.05 to release, on April 13, 2008, we at GLOSS got lucky!! Thanks to Micheline and Charlie, I could obtain a copy of OpenSolaris Release Candidate 0!!! Yes! we were one of the first one's to see OpenSolaris 2008.05 (exactly the way you see a baby through the ultrasound Laughing out loud) and we got our hands on RC0 before any other group outside Sun Smile And then how could we wait to find out how the new desto has come out!! We did and we did it with lots of passion and zeal.

Education 3.0 at SRM University, Channai

On 6th of March 2008, I addressed the largest crowd I had ever done before!! It was more than 2000 students who turned up for the Sun University Day at SRM University Chennai. K. Nageshwara Rao, who is Site Lead of India Engineering Center (IEC) Bangalore was the chief guest for the event. He was accompanied by Ganesh and senior professors from SRM. Those who don't know, Ganesh Hiregoudar manages the Sun CA program for the APAC region.

Students should expect to soon become the "Alice" as the "Wonderland" comes out!

I'm just out of a panel discussion over the  "Immersive Education" and from what I saw, two things where every evident. 1st, its not late that classrooms will no longer be required to teach and learn and 2nd- learning is going to be whole lot fun!

This advice you gotta take!! - Joe Hartley to new age students and teachers!

One thing which came out very clearly during the panel discussion held during the Worldwide Education and Research Conference 2008 is that the learning methodologies and principals are changing everywhere in the world. Education is getting more and more into collaborative learning and sharing of knowledge and resources. So to sum it up, I did a quick interview of Joe Hartley (for those who don't know,  he is the Vice President -Government, Education and Healthcare for Sun Microsystems).
